Howdy fellow students,
Today I'm going to talk about TRiO and CLiC Pretty much if you're enrolled in TRiO ( or SSS , or TRiO SSS they are all the same thing) then you will be in CLiC a lot.
To be enrolled in TRiO you must:
-Be a U.S. citizen
-Be enrolled in a 2-year degree program
-Be highly motivated to get your degree
Also you should meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Are you a first generation college student ( parents did not complete a degree or go) ?
- Are you low Income ?
- Do you have a Disability?
If you qualify you should think about applying , if you apply before the end of the quarter you should be all set for fall .
If you do get set up you can opt in for a student mentor who will be there for advice, support and to help you get the most out of TRiO-SSS!
If you've read this far, you may want to know what you'll get out of it! In addition to being much more likely than most students to graduate from the support of being enrolled (1), TRiO is federally funded and is endowed with scholarships that apply only to students enrolled in their program(2) in addition to that TRiO has tutors in CLIC - it is very relaxed in TRiO and if you'd rather have more privacy than the writing center or MAST affords then this would likely be a good fit for you .
This is the cheesy part, like in the hair club for men commercial, where I let you know I'm not blowing smoke because I'm in TRiO too! Don't hesitate to ask if you want to know anything about it!
I live over on Vashon Island, and am studying at South Seattle community College. I hope to transfer to the UW. This is about my life on the way there, and here I'll share all the tips and services that help me most!

The Low Down on Low Tide
So somehow I went totally nutty and did not follow the instructions for my communications class. This week's assignment was an introduction. I thought it was just a post. I don't know why I thought this!
Here goes. I'll try to answer them all. Maybe I'll get a few points.

- Your Objectives and Goals in Life, or at least the next 5 years.
- Your objectives and goals for your blog (tell your reader what you blog will be about).
- Where you readers can get a hold of you (include an email address).
Life. Well, geeze.
Five years from now I want to be in school, hopefully done with my graduate degree in Business Administration from UW and working on my PHD. I would certainly be interested in any opportunities to study abroad through UW.
Further out than five years-I want to contribute significantly to whatever sub field of business I end up in. Hopefully something like Business Psychology maybe the Psychology of International Business. I also want to contribute significantly to my family business.
I also want about 3+ kids, my own house and some kind of positive lasting improvement on South Seattle Community College before I'm 30. I'm from a family of seven ( two adults, five kids) so I'm never going to be happy with less than three kids. I'm more than okay with adopting most of my future children, but I may not be able to afford it so for now I'm planning on the old fashioned way.
I don't have anyone I'm thinking of to be the father of the future kids right now. Going stag-or mare? Filly?- right now. Completing my degree(s) is the most important thing to me right now.
Now my goals for this blog.
Well that is where the "lasting contribution to SSCC" comes in. Hopefully hints, tutorials ( thank you for the PowerPoint tip RM~!) and upcoming event info ( and information on the wonderful places I GOT the hints from!) will at least contribute a little bit.
I plan to post something useful for transfer students every week and will likely eventually keep a running tally and fully integrated calendar of all dates and events relevant to transfer students at south! I want to help my classmates out, that is pretty much the jist. I'm looking for ways to improve it ( particularly the layout, which I'm not really feeling) so I am wide open to suggestions!
