Clubbing

 Hi guys,

How are you? Getting ready for finals? What are you doing this summer- will you be  taking any time off?

Want to go clubbing?  It doesn't involve spray tans, and people pretending to like how jagermeister tastes- I'm talking about the clubs at South Seattle!

Plus all students can go, not just returning students over 21- they don't even check student ID at the club center!

Now a club I really wanted to be in , is PTK but my grades need work.  However I am in one club- Students for Sustainability. It's  President   realized one day  in Winter2011 Quarter we didn't have ANY clubs  having to do with renewable energy or  anything " green" so she started it up. Indecent-ally we  could use a few members over at SFS.

Maybe that's not your thing.

You can  start your own club too, you know.  You should read up on it to make sure you're not making a duplicate club.

If you're  not sold on the concept of going through all that to explore your interests- then you should go to a club event and see if you like it enough to join!  The quarter is almost over and things like the club center shut down over summer, but if you are interested in starting a club- now would be a great time to plan it out!

TRiO

Howdy fellow students,

Today I'm going to talk about TRiO and CLiC  Pretty much if you're enrolled in  TRiO ( or SSS , or TRiO SSS they are all the same thing)  then you will be in CLiC a lot.

To be enrolled in TRiO you must:
-Be a U.S. citizen
-Be enrolled in a 2-year degree program
-Be highly motivated to get your degree

Also you should meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Are you a first generation college student ( parents did not complete a degree or go) ?
- Are you low Income ?
- Do you have a Disability?

If you qualify you should  think about applying , if you apply before the end of the quarter you should be all set for fall .

If you do get set up you can opt in for a student mentor who will be there for advice, support and to help you get the most out of TRiO-SSS!

If you've read  this far, you may want to know what you'll  get out of it! In addition to being much more likely than most students to graduate from the support  of being enrolled (1), TRiO is federally funded and is endowed with scholarships that apply only to students enrolled in their program(2) in addition to that TRiO has tutors in CLIC -  it is very relaxed in TRiO and if you'd rather have more privacy than the writing center or MAST affords then this would likely be a good fit for you .

This is the cheesy part,  like in the hair club for men  commercial, where I let you know I'm not blowing smoke because I'm in TRiO too!  Don't hesitate to ask if you want to know anything about it!
